World Mission Society Church of God Holds 1,900th Worldwide Blood Drive in Nairobi, Kenya

June 14, 2026

On June 14. 2026, the World Mission Society Church of God (General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol) carried out the 1,900th Worldwide Blood Drive to Give Life Through the Love of the Passover at the headquarters of the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Centre in Nairobi.

Held in observance of World Blood Donor Day, the event carried special meaning as it marked the 1,900th time the church has continued this campaign of sharing life over more than two decades.

A church representative explained that two thousand years ago, the night before His crucifixion, Jesus Christ kept the Passover with His disciples and established the new covenant through bread and wine symbolizing His flesh and blood, promising forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Members take part in the blood drive as a way of practicing the same sacrifice and love Christ showed.

More than 90 participants, including church members, their families, and neighbors, took part starting around 10 a.m. After undergoing pre-donation health checks such as blood pressure measurement and blood testing, 45 people successfully donated a total of 21,600ml of blood.

Notably, Esther Muthoni Passaris, Member of the National Assembly for Nairobi County, also took part and personally donated blood at the event. The occasion was covered by local broadcaster KTN, helping spread awareness of the blood drive’s meaning to a wider audience.

Festus Koech, Nairobi Regional Manager of the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Centre HQ, expressed his appreciation, saying it was deeply moving to see so many young people and families turn out early in the morning purely out of love for their neighbors. He noted that since a single donation can save up to three lives, the impact of the day’s giving would reach many families across Nairobi.

The Church of God continues a wide range of community outreach efforts. In May, the church also held blood drives at Regional Blood Transfusion Centres in Mombasa and Kisumu, and as part of its “Hold Hope!” campaign, provided food supplies to underprivileged residents in Starehe and fishing boats, nets, and other equipment to small-scale fishers in Homa Bay.

The World Mission Society Church of God is a global community of four million members established in more than 7,800 locations across 175 countries, believing in God the Father and God the Mother according to the Bible and keeping the new covenant truth of the early Church. Following Christ’s teaching to “love your neighbor as yourself,” the church has carried out roughly 47,000 social contribution activities across six key areas — climate action, poverty and hunger relief, education support, health and welfare, sustainable cities, and peace and solidarity — and has received over 5,800 honors and citations from governments and institutions worldwide in recognition of this work.
