A Mother’s Heart and Ubuntu: Inspiring Humanity
Every human being in this world is inspired by the profound power of love and hope. Despite life’s hardships, there are joyful moments when a simple smile brightens our faces — a reflection of the nurturing love of a mother who wraps her children in warmth. A mother’s love plants seeds of hope that can bloom endlessly, strengthening us even in tough times. Indeed, that is what we all need.
World Mission Society Church of God held an event with a mother’s loving hope at the Embakasi and Kangemi Location Chief’s offices in Nairobi on March 5, 2025. This event commemorated the World Day of Social Justice 2025, under the theme ‘We Share Hope with a Mother’s Heart.’
‘Moyo wa Mama’: Hope and Healing in Action
A total of 49 boxes of food items were joyfully distributed to the locals who were identified by the local chiefs and attended the event. In the Embakasi-Tassia location, the residents had just endured a devastating fire that destroyed their homes. This initiative came at the perfect time to provide much-needed support to the community. As one participant noted, “Hii ni mwangaza mpya kwa jamii yetu.” (This is a new light for our community). The event not only provided food but also fostered hope for a better tomorrow. ‘Tumaini kwa Kila Mmoja’ — hope for everyone.
Jamii ya Matumaini: A Community Rooted in Hope

Kangemi lies to the west of Nairobi, while Embakasi is located in the eastern part of the city. These areas are home to middle- and low-income residents, many of whom earn as little as Ksh. 50 per day. Most locals rely on small-scale jobs such as housekeeping, street hawking, and freelance work to make ends meet. Despite government programs aimed at improving living conditions, unemployment remains high, and poverty persists. In 2024, Nairobi had a hardcore poverty rate of 1.3%, while Kenya’s overall poverty rate was 39.8%.
Despite these challenges, the residents remain resilient, working tirelessly to afford meals for their families and holding onto the hope of a better tomorrow.
Hope Across Borders: A Church’s Global Impact
The World Mission Society Church of God has been a tremendous blessing to local communities both in Kenya and worldwide. The Church, with its headquarters in South Korea, has received remarkable awards for its tireless efforts in serving communities and spreading kindness.
The local chiefs gratefully commend such initiatives for uplifting the community and bringing hope, joy, and love to all. Through this initiative, the Church continues to share a mother’s loving message of spreading hope to all mankind. One profound teaching reminds us: “As God always gives love, giving love is more blessed than receiving love.”
