ASEZ University Student Volunteers Bring Hope Through Murals to Kenyan Primary School

February 24, 2025

University students from World Mission Society Church of God spend two days creating vibrant classroom murals to revitalize local community

A Primary school in Kenya’s Homa Bay region has been transformed with colorful murals. Twenty-one university students from ASEZ, the university student volunteer group of the World Mission Society Church of God, visited Homa Bay Primary School from February 24-25, painting and creating murals in three classroom buildings.

This volunteer activity goes beyond simple beautification, serving the greater purpose of crime prevention and environmental improvement in the local community. ASEZ explains that the murals are expected to brighten the surrounding environment and naturally contribute to crime prevention through enhanced visibility and community engagement.

Philip Aduda, Head Teacher of Homa Bay Primary School, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are sincerely thankful to the ASEZ volunteers who created these beautiful murals for our students and local residents. This bright and vibrant classroom environment will greatly help improve children’s motivation to learn.”

ASEZ member Ogweno Calvince shared his thoughts, saying, “We wanted to provide a better future for the children through improving their educational environment. Though it may seem like a small change, we hope these murals will bring hope and joy to the children and local residents.”

ASEZ is a volunteer organization of university students worldwide participating under the World Mission Society Church of God, continuously contributing to social development through community service activities. This mural project at Homa Bay Primary School is being recognized as a meaningful initiative that simultaneously pursues both educational environment improvement and crime prevention.

The colorful murals now adorning the school walls serve as a testament to the power of youth volunteerism and international cooperation in creating positive change at the grassroots level.
