2nd Nairobi Church of God Hosts 9,566th Global Cleanup Campaign

August 9, 2026

On Sunday, August 9, 2026, the Second Nairobi Church of God (World Mission Society Church of God) successfully held the 9,566th Global Environmental Cleanup Campaign along Kayole Spine Road in Nairobi. The two-hour event, which ran from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, saw 47 devoted members from the Second Nairobi congregation volunteer their time and effort to help beautify the local community.

The cleanup activity was carried out with the full support and cooperation of the Kayole Ward Office. Local government officials generously provided essential cleaning tools—including wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, and refuse bags—which allowed the volunteers to carry out their work smoothly and efficiently.

Divided into organized teams, the members of the Second Nairobi Church of God systematically combed through the Kayole Spine Road area. They meticulously collected all types of waste scattered along the roadside, drainage channels, and vacant lots. From plastic bottles, carrier bags, and paper products to discarded cans and bulky illegally dumped items, nothing was left untouched. Special attention was given to clearing out waste that had been clogging the drainage systems for a long time, drastically improving the area’s overall sanitation.

The collective effort of the 47 volunteers yielded impressive results—they filled 54 fifty-liter garbage bags, totaling approximately 540 kilograms of waste. This significant haul was a powerful testament to what a dedicated group can achieve when working together for a common cause.

A participating member from the Second Nairobi Church of God shared her thoughts: “It fills me with so much pride to be able to contribute to making our neighborhood cleaner. I truly hope that activities like these continue on a regular basis, as they help raise environmental awareness within all of us.”

Another volunteer added, “Having 47 of us from the Second Nairobi Church working side by side made an incredible difference. It is amazing to realize that our small, combined individual efforts could clear the area of this much waste.”

A representative from the Ward Office also expressed their appreciation, stating: “Voluntary environmental cleanups led by citizens are the backbone of community development. We are fully committed to continuing our administrative and logistical support for such meaningful activities hosted by the Second Nairobi Church of God.”

This campaign marks another milestone in the World Mission Society Church of God’s long-running global initiative, which has been consistently carried out around the world for years. Volunteer efforts centered around the Church of God play a vital role in strengthening community solidarity and elevating the public’s consciousness regarding environmental stewardship.

Following the cleanup, Kayole Spine Road was transformed into a brighter, cleaner, and more welcoming area—a change that did not go unnoticed by local residents and shop owners. One local merchant remarked with a smile: “With the streets this clean, customers seem so much happier and more relaxed when they walk around. We are truly grateful to the volunteers from the Second Nairobi Church of God.”

This event served as yet another powerful reminder that small, united actions can create significant and lasting changes. Beyond simply collecting 540 kilograms of waste, the dedication and hard work shown by the 47 members of the Second Nairobi Church of God demonstrated a profound sense of social responsibility toward the environment we share today and a deep commitment to securing a sustainable, brighter future for the coming generation.

Moving forward, the Second Nairobi Church of God is expected to continue leading these proactive environmental protection activities, contributing further to the creation of clean, healthy, and vibrant local communities across Nairobi.
