Church of God Carries Out Environmental Cleanup in Kisumu, Kenya
August 24, 2025
The World Mission Society Church of God carried out an environmental cleanup campaign in Kisumu, Kenya, to improve the local environment and promote the well-being of the local community.
According to the Church, the Worldwide Environmental Cleanup Movement took place on August 24 with the participation of 16 church members as well as the Assistant Chief Mr. Dennis from the local administration. The volunteers focused on a 1km section of Kisumu Vihiga Road, collecting about 200kg of waste, which filled 20 garbage bags of 50 liters each.

Participants worked with gloves and tongs, removing household waste, plastics, bottles, and other litter scattered along the roadside. One church member commented, “Keeping the streets clean is not just about appearance but also about protecting the health and the safety of the local residents.”
Assistant Chief Mr. Dennis, who joined the campaign, said, “The Church of God’s environmental efforts have a very positive impact on our community. I hope such activities will continue in the future.”
Local residents also expressed appreciation. “The trash that has long been an eyesore is now gone, and the road looks much cleaner,” one resident said. “It would be wonderful if more people could take part in such activities.”
Based on the Bible’s teaching, “love your neighbor as yourself,” the World Mission Society Church of God continues to carry out volunteer activities around the world.
Beyond environmental cleanups, the Church has organized blood donation efforts, disaster relief, and various community service initiatives. Through its youth volunteer group known as ‘ASEZ’ and the young adult worker group known as ‘ASEZ WAO’, the Church initiates environmental and social welfare projects on an international front.
The Kisumu cleanup was part of these ongoing efforts and carried a special meaning as it aimed not only to remove waste but also to raise the awareness of environmental protection in the local community.

Another Church member who participated in the event said, “I realized once again that small efforts can bring forth great changes. I will continue to participate in such activities which protect the environment together with our Church of God.”
The World Mission Society Church of God stated that it will continue conducting similar activities not only in Kenya but across the globe to create “a cleaner Earth contributing to a happier humanity.”
