August 24, 2025
On Sunday, August 24, 2025, the 8904th Global Environmental Cleanup Campaign was successfully held on Ngara Road in Nairobi. The event, which ran from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM for two hours, featured a voluntary participation attendance of 76 members of the Church of God throughout the county of Nairobi-Parklands, Embakasi, Kasarani, and Kangemi.
This environmental cleanup campaign was carried out with the active cooperation from the local government office.
The Ngara Ward Office provided strong support for the event by providing the participants with various cleaning tools including wheelbarrows, spades, rakes etcetera. The cooperation from the Ngara Ward Office played a crucial role in ensuring that the environmental protection activity organized by the local Church of God ran more smoothly.
Participants systematically divided into groups and began the waste collection work throughout the Ngara Road area. They meticulously collected various types of waste produces such as plastic bottles, plastic bags, paper products, cans, as well as large waste items that had been illegally dumped on roadsides.

The Church of God members particularly focused on cleaning up the waste which had accumulated along the drainage systems and along the roadside areas for a long time, significantly improving the sanitary conditions of the region.
To our surprise, the Church of God members were able to collect waste which filled 100 fifty-liter garbage bags; equivalent to approximately 1 ton of waste-a substantial quantity that reflected the dedicated efforts of all the Church of God members.

One of the Church members who participated on the day, shared her thoughts as follows: “I feel proud in being able to make our community a cleaner place. I hope that such activities will regularly continue so that such environmental awareness activities can be higher raised.”
Another Church of God participant share their thoughts as follows, “Having 76 people working together made a big difference. It is truly amazing that our small, combined individual efforts could rid the area of 1 ton of waste.”
A Ngara Ward official stated, “Citizens’ voluntary environmental cleanup activities serve as the foundation for community development. We will continue to provide the necessary support and administrative backing for such meaningful activities.”
As the number 8904 indicates, this Global Environmental Cleanup Campaign is the World Mission Society Church of God environmental protection activity which has been consistently carried out over a long period of time.

Volunteer activities centered around the Church of God particularly play an important role in strengthening community solidarity and raising the local communities environmental awareness.
Through this event, the Ngara Road became a brighter and a cleaner place which was praised by local residents. One local merchant commented, “Now that the street is so clean, customers seem to walk around more pleasantly. I’m grateful to the Church of God volunteers.”
Another local business operator said, “With the streets this clean, customers seem to walk around more happily. We’re grateful to the Church volunteers.”
This event once again demonstrated that small united actions lead to significant changes.

The dedication, efforts and sacrifice shown by 76 Church of God members carry an effect which is beyond simply collecting 1 ton of waste. Their deeds reveal a practical demonstration of having a social responsibility for the environment in which we live as well as the commitment to a sustainable and bright future for the next generation.
It is expected that such environmental protection activities led by the World Mission Society Church of God will become even more active in the future, contributing to the creation of sanitary local communities.
