FEDHA ROAD CLEANUP-KENYA NAIROBI

Worldwide Clean-up Campaign 2024 September 22nd

Even Trash Deserves a Second Chance!

On September 22, 2024, the World Mission Society Church of God in Kenya conducted a cleanup campaign as part of the 8324th Worldwide Global Initiative for environmental clean-ups. In Nairobi’s Fedha region, dedicated volunteers from the Kangemi, Parklands, and Embakasi branches united to clean and restore the Fedha Road area, highlighting their commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being. This initiative underscores the importance of collective efforts in safeguarding our environment for healthier living because “Even Trash Deserves a Second Chance!” Just as people deserve second chances in life, so too do the items we consider waste (trash). Through the clean-up efforts, discarded materials can be repurposed or properly disposed of, thereby reducing waste and improving the environment.

From Supermarkets to Super Mess

Fedha Road, located in the Embakasi region of Nairobi, Kenya, primarily serves a middle-class community with numerous commercial entities like supermarkets and food outlets. Despite local county government efforts, garbage collection remains a significant issue. During weekdays, the area is almost deserted as most residents work in the city, but it becomes bustling on weekends, resulting in increased waste accumulation during this time and in the evenings.

Armed with clean-up gears; these unsung heroes tackled litter and debris from drainages, roadsides, and beyond. Their unwavering commitment and meticulous approach exemplified the spirit of community pride and determination in Fedha. By embracing our individual responsibility and collective potential, we can create a world where beauty thrives, and harmony reigns. With support from the local county government, the team successfully gathered a total of 42 bags of waste, which were then disposed of at the designated pipeline dumping site.

World Mission Society Church of God always demonstrates the power of collective action, reminding us that together, we can sow the seeds of compassion and mindfulness, nurturing a culture of empathy and environmental consciousness with the love of Mother, who is the source of life and love, so that everyone can be happy without being left alone.

The residents and county leadership expressed their sincere gratitude for the actions of World Mission Society Church of God undertook towards the cleanup. The inspiring efforts of volunteers worldwide serve as a testament to the transformative power of collective action in environmental cleanups

Mazingira Day: Join the Eco-Revolution.

Kenya has designated a special day known as Mazingira Day to promote environmental awareness. While environmental conservation has long been a topic of discussion, Mazingira Day marks a turning point in how Kenya approaches this issue. The holiday aims to foster a culture of environmental stewardship, encouraging individuals, communities, and organizations to take responsibility for protecting the planet.

This new direction aligns with global trends, where environmental issues are increasingly central to government agendas. Organizations and entities are encouraged to partner with the national government to enhance efforts in environmental conservation, promote sustainable practices, and drive community engagement in protecting the planet.

We are the first generation to feel the impact of climate change and the last generation that can do something about it.
