The First Adam and the Life-Giving Last Adam

April 15, 2026

In everyday life, the word ”last” means the final and decisive step. For instance, the last chapter of a book brings a conclusion, and the last action completes what was started. Yet we understand the meaning of ”last” only when we first know what came ”first”. Since there was the ”First Adam” who brought sin and death to mankind, the Bible speaks about the “Last Adam” who comes at the end of God’s plan to complete the work of salvation and restore life to humanity as the Life-giving spirit.

Adam disobeyed God by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, bringing sin and death to all mankind (Romans 5:12). In contrast, the Bible speaks of the Last Adam who gives life to humanity.

1 Corinthians 15:45–47 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the Last Adam, a life-giving spirit. The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven.

Through the First Adam, the world fell into death, but through the Last Adam mankind receives life as He comes as the life-giving Spirit.

Then Who Is the Last Adam?

Romans 5:14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.

The Apostle Paul explained that Adam was a pattern of the one to come who was Jesus Christ. Therefore, the Last Adam refers to Christ who appears again in the last days—the Second Coming Christ.

How the Last Adam Gives Life

How does the Last Adam give eternal life? Let us see through Jesus’ words.

John 6:53–54 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

Those who eat Christ’s flesh and drink His blood receive eternal life and are raised on the last day.

Before His crucifixion, Jesus showed His disciples how to receive His flesh and blood.

Luke 22:7–8, 19–20 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.” … And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

At the Passover of the new covenant, Jesus called the bread His body and the wine His blood. Through this Passover, believers can receive the flesh and blood of Christ and obtain eternal life. Therefore, the way to receive life at the last day is to keep the Passover of the new covenant.

The Passover Restored by the Second Coming Christ

The Last Adam, Christ, must appear again to bring the Passover that gives life to mankind bound to death. However, in A.D. 325, the Passover established by Jesus was abolished through the Council of Nicaea, and the truth of the new covenant gradually disappeared.

According to Bible prophecy, Christ Ahnsahnghong restored the Passover of the new covenant that had been hidden for centuries. He came as the Last Adam to grant eternal life to humanity through the truth of the Passover.

How Can We Know Him?

It is only through the scriptures that we can know Him. Jesus testified that the Scriptures point to the Savior who gives life.

John 5:39–40 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

Come to the Life-Giving Spirit

The Bible testifies about the Last Adam who gives eternal life. Through studying the prophecies of the Scriptures and keeping the Passover of the new covenant, we can recognize the Savior who has come again.
