How to Register Your Name in the Book of Life

Heavenly Birth Register
When a person is born on earth, their name is recorded in the birth register. When they attend school, their names are recorded in the school register. Likewise, when one receives salvation and is baptised, his name is recorded in the Book of Life. The Book of Life is the birth register in the Kingdom of Heaven.
When a person’s name is recorded in a birth register, they are granted citizenship and the rights of their country, such as legal protection and recognition. In the same way, when our names are written in the Book of Life, we are granted the blessings and privileges of God’s Kingdom.
Luke 10:17-20 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
When the disciples rejoiced that demons obeyed them, Jesus taught them to rejoice only because their names are written in Heaven. This means their names are recorded in the Book of Life. Jesus showed that the greatest joy is not in power over spirits, but in knowing that our names are written in Heaven, in the Book of Life.
The Condition for Having Your Name Written in the Book of Life
For someone’s name to be recorded in a country’s birth register, they must first be born in that country. In the same way, we must understand how our names can be written in the Book of Life.
Romans 6:1-4 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Through baptism, we are reborn into a new life. This is not physical, since no one can return to their mother’s womb to be born again (John 3:4). Being born again means receiving spiritual life. Baptism is necessary for our names to be recorded in the Heavenly register, the Book of Life. Without it, our names remain absent, and we cannot receive God’s blessings. Therefore, we must be born again spiritually through baptism to have our names written in the Book of Life in Heaven.
Blessings of Those Recorded in the Book of Life
When our names are recorded in earthly registers, such as the birth register or the school register, we are granted certain privileges. In the same way, when our names are written in the Book of Life, God grants us special blessings.
Isaiah 4:2-4 In that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel. Those who are left in Zion, who remain in Jerusalem, will be called holy, all who are recorded among the living in Jerusalem. The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.
If one’s name is recorded in the Book of Life, God promised that such people will be called holy. This means that these people will be saved on the last day.
Daniel 12:1-3 “At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.
The Bible records that only those whose names are written in the Book of Life will be delivered on the last day. This means that such people will be saved and will enter God’s Kingdom. The Bible also teaches that those whose names are written in the Book of Life have a great characteristic: they lead many to righteousness. They are devoted to preaching the gospel of the new covenant.
This is why the New Testament testifies that the names of the fellow workers of the gospel are written in the Book of Life,
Philippians 4:2-3 I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to agree with each other in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you, loyal yokefellow, help these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
As recorded, the names of fellow workers who have worked hard for the gospel with Paul will shine in the Book of Life like the stars forever and ever. Since our names are also written in the Book of Life, we should preach the gospel earnestly so that we can receive blessings.
The Curse That Befalls Those Whose Names Are Not Written in the Book of Life.
Revelation 20:12-15 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
The Bible explained that “Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” This shows that such people are cursed and can never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. God acknowledges those whose names are in the Book of Life as His own people. Depending on whether our names are recorded, we can be saved or destroyed.
Revelation 13:8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.
The Bible records that those whose names are not found in the Book of Life are counted among the worshipers of the beast. In plain words, they are worshipers of the devil. None of us would ever choose to be a devil worshiper! That is why we must ensure our names are registered in the Heavenly Book, so that we may be saved. God’s Word is true: whoever does not have their name written in the Book of Life is not a follower of God. This is no small matter: it is truly a matter of life and death.
Our Names Can Be Blotted Out Even After They Were Written in the Book of Life.
The names, once written in the Book of Life, do not remain forever. According to our faith, they can be blotted out.
Psalms 69:26-28 For they persecute those you wound and talk about the pain of those you hurt. Charge them with crime upon crime; do not let them share in your salvation. May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous.
Being blotted out of the Book of Life implies that one’s name was once written in the Book of Life.
Revelation 3:5 He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels.
If someone betrays the truth or does not stand firm in faith, his name can be blotted out from the Book of Life. On the other hand, the names of those who lead many to righteousness will shine more and more as time passes by. So we should not be satisfied with only the fact that our names are written in the Book of Life, but should try to make our names shine more in the Book of Life.
Where Can We Find the Book of Life?
Some Christian denominations claim that the Book of Life is only in Heaven, not on earth. However, the Bible teaches that the Book of Life exists on earth as well. This is because God promised that whatever we bind on earth as God’s children will also be bound in Heaven.
Matthew 16:18-20 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
Jesus came and established His Church when He was on the earth. And He said that whatever is bound in that Church will also be bound in Heaven. Once a person is baptised in that place, his name will be recorded in the Book of Life, not only in the Church but also in Heaven. The name of the Church established by Jesus is the Church of God (1 Corinthians 11: 22).
What special truth does the Church of God keep for us to identify it correctly?
1 Corinthians 10:16-17 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.
Here, Apostle Paul is talking about a cup of thanksgiving. What does the cup refer to?
Luke 22:19-20 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
It refers to the Passover Wine. The Church of God must have the truth of the Passover of the New Covenant, established by Jesus when He came to the earth.
The Book of Life is in the Church that keeps all the truths of the New Covenant given by Jesus. Mankind ought to find this Church, receive the sign of salvation (baptism) and thus inherit God’s grace of salvation. Only the Church of God has the Book of Life. However, not all churches have the Book of Life.
For our names to be recorded in Heaven, mankind should first receive the sign of salvation here on earth, and in this way, the names will automatically be written in the Book of Life in Heaven as well.
