What Is the Water of Life?
Water of life in the Bible is the words of life that revive dying souls, in other terms, words that lead or spring to eternal life, which only God can grant to human beings. (c.f Jeremiah 17:13; John 4:14)
In the Old Testament, it was prophesied by Amos that a time would come when God would send a famine on the land—a famine that is not for food or a thirst for physical water but a famine for hearing the words of God.
Amos 8:11 “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land— not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord.
The above prophecy is with reference to the dark ages after all the apostles of Christ Jesus were martyred and the truth of life handed to them from Jesus was trampled on by the devil. Then who appears and gives us the water of life after the period of famine from not hearing the words of God?
Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
It is the Spirit and the Bride who appear calling us to take the free gift of the water of life. The above is a revelation given to the Apostle John about what must soon take place. (Cf. Revelation 22:6-8)
It is a general opinion by Christians that the Spirit above inviting people for the water of life is the Holy Spirit. According to the Trinity, the Spirit is God the Father. Then how about the Bride appearing alongside the Spirit?
Revelation 21:9-10 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
When John was in the Spirit to be shown the Bride, the wife of the Lamb, he said he was shown Jerusalem, and he referred to it as a Holy City.
Who Is Jerusalem Above?
Then was it a real physical city or a physical building coming down from heaven? This is not a real physical building or city coming down from heaven, but it is symbolic.
Then who is this that John was shown coming down from heaven as the Bride and is symbolized as city Jerusalem, or what relationship do we have with this city Jerusalem?
Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.
Who is Jerusalem above (heaven)? Jerusalem is our Mother. The phrase “our Mother“ means the mother of all our souls. In other words, it refers to God the Mother. Therefore, the Bride, who is symbolized as Heavenly Jerusalem and was prophesied to appear with the Holy Spirit in the last days to give the water of life, is God the Mother.
Why Does God the Mother Appear in the Last Days?
The reason God the Mother appears in the last days is to give God’s children the free gift of eternal life. We can understand this well through the scene when Jesus came the first time, as recorded in the Gospel of John.
John 7:37-39 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
In what form did Jesus stand up, calling in a loud voice to the thirsty to come and drink? He was in the flesh, in other words in human form. So the Bride in Revelation 22:17, calling the thirsty saints to come together with the Spirit, is our Heavenly Mother, Jerusalem, who has come in the flesh like Jesus.
We need to know God correctly, as the Bride testified in the Bible, so that we can receive the free gift of eternal life which was promised to us by God.
