The Savior of Each Age and the New Name
May 31, 2023
The New Name Given for Our Salvation
The Bible says that there is a time for everything. And every activity has its purpose. On earth, everyone’s life has a purpose. Our life of Faith should also have a purpose.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
The purpose of going to school is to receive education, the purpose of going to hospital is to receive medication, then what is the purpose of our faith?
1 Peter 1: 8-9 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
The purpose of our faith is to attain salvation, which is eternal life. The Bible’s prophecies, such as Hosea 6:3, encourage us to seek a deeper understanding of God – His nature, His promises, His blessings, and His name – so that we may receive the gift of eternal life from Him.
In order to give us eternal life, God divided 6,000 years of His redemption work into three Ages and gave us a different name for the Savior of each Age.
Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the Age.”
God told us to baptize people in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. This means that the Father has a name, the Son has a name and the Holy Spirit also has a name.
The name of the Father is Jehovah and the name of the Son is Jesus. Then, what is the name of the Holy Spirit? Have you ever heard about the name of the Holy Spirit? In order to know the name of the Holy Spirit, let us study who the savior was during each age, whose witnesses people were in each age, whose name should we pray and call for salvation during each age.
Who Is the Savior in Each Age ?
The Ages are divided into the Age of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Let us find out who was the savior in each Age.
· The Savior in the Age of the Father
Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the Lord [Jehovah, ASV], and apart from me there is no savior.
In the Age of the Father, who was the Savior? The savior was Jehovah. In that Age, could people be saved by any other name except the name of Jehovah? In that Age only Jehovah was the savior. Then, when the Age changed to the Age of the Son, who was the Savior?
· The Savior in the Age of the Son
Acts 4:11-12 Jesus is “the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
The Age changed from the Age of the Father to Age of the Son, who was the savior in the Age of the Son? Apostle Peter said that there was no other name given to men by which we could be saved, except Jesus. As the Age changed from the Age of the Father to the Age of the Son, the name of the Savior changed from Jehovah to Jesus. Then could people be saved by the name of Jehovah when the Age of the Father changed to the Age of the son? Never! Vice-versa, could people be saved by the name of Jesus in the Age of the Father? No. God gave us different name for the Savior in each age. Thus, each name is limited by time. In the Age of the Father, people were saved only by the name of the Father, and in the Age of the Son, by the name of the Son.
· The Savior in the Age of the Holy Spirit
Now it is neither the Age of the Father, nor the Age of the Son. We live in the Age of the Holy Spirit. Then, what is the name of the Savior in this age? As it changed from the Age of the Son to the Age of the Holy Spirit, the name of the Savior must also change.
Let’s find out the name of Savior in the age of the Holy Spirit.
Revelation 3:12 The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.
Here ‘I’ is Jesus. Thus, ‘my new name’ is Jesus’ new name. Can the name Jesus be Jesus’ new name? Jesus’ new name must be different from Jesus because it is a new name.
Let us see another prophecy about the new name.
Revelation 2:17 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.
The Bible clearly says that he who overcomes will receive a stone with a new name written on it. The stone here is not a real stone. 1 Peter 2: 4 clearly tells whom the stone represents.
1 Peter 2:4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him …
In the New Testament, Jesus is represented as a Stone. So when we substitute the Stone for Jesus in Revelation 2:17 , the new name written on the Stone is Jesus’ new name. Who knows Jesus’ new name? Only he who receives it knows the name. The whole world already knows the name of Jesus.
As the world does not yet know Jesus’ new name, the Bible says that it is known only to him who receives it. This new name is the name of the Savior in the age of the Holy Spirit.
Whose Witnesses Must People Be in Each Age?
The mission of the witnesses is to testify about the savior in their age.
· Witnesses in the Age of the Father
In the age of the Father, whose witnesses did people have to be?
Isaiah 43:10 “You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord [Jehovah, ASV], “and my servant whom I have chosen,…
In the age of the Father, people had to be witnesses of Jehovah because Jehovah was the savior in that Age.
· Witnesses in the Age of the Son
Then, when the age changed from the Age of the Father to the Age of the Son, whose witnesses were people?
Acts 1:6-8 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
In the age of the son, people had to be witnesses of Jesus because Jesus was the savior in that age. The name of the savior changed from Jehovah to Jesus and people had to be His witnesses to testify about Him from Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to all the ends of the earth.
· Witnesses in the Age of the Holy Spirit
We live neither in the Age of the Father nor in the Age of the Son. We live in the Age of the Holy Spirit. Then whose witnesses must we be? Of course we must be the witnesses of the New name.
It is because the New name is the name of the Savior in the Age of the Holy Spirit.
In Each Age, Whose Name Must People Pray In?
Prayers are answered only when people pray in the name of the Savior designated for their respective Age. Whose name did people pray in each Age?
· Whose Name Did People Pray in the Age of the Father?
Psalms 116: 4 Then I called on the name of the Lord [Jehovah, ASV] “Lord, save me!”
In the Age of the Father people prayed in the name of Jehovah because Jehovah was the savior in that Age. If a man in the Age of the Father prayed in the name of Jesus, predicting that Jesus would come as the Savior in the future, could his prayer be answered? No. Prayer can be answered only when people pray in the name of the Savior in their respective Age.
· Whose Name Did People Pray in the Age of the Son?
The age of the Father changed to age of the son, then whose name did people pray in?
John 16:24 “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”
“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name” means that until that time, Jesus’ disciples had prayed in another name, not Jesus’ name. Then, whose name had the disciples prayed in up until that time? They had prayed in the name of Jehovah, the Savior in the Age of the Father. However, whose name did Jesus tell them to pray in from then on? It was in His name. Jesus was teaching the people in that age that they now had to pray in His name since the Age of the Father had changed to the Age of the Son.
If a man prayed in the name of Jehovah, disregarding that he was in the Age of the Son, could his prayer be answered? No. “Ask in my name and you will receive” means that a prayer in any other name except Jesus cannot be answered from then on.
· Whose Name Did People Pray in the Age of Holy Spirit?
We live neither in the Age of the Father, nor in the Age of the Son. The age has changed to Age of the Holy Spirit. Then whose name must we pray in? We must pray in the New name, the name of the savior in the Age of the Holy Spirit.
Whose Name Must People Call on for Their Salvation in Each Age?
In each Age, people called on the name of the Savior for their salvation.
Joel 2:32 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord [Jehovah ASV] will be saved; …
In the Age of the Father, people called on the name Jehovah to be saved because Jehovah was the savior in that Age.
The age changed from the Age of the Father to the age the Son, whose name did people call for Salvation?
Romans 10:9-13 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord, “ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved … “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
In the Age of the Son, whose name did people call on to be saved? Why was that? It was because the age changed to the Age of the Son and the Savior in the Age of the Son was Jesus.
We live neither in the Age of the Father, nor in the Age of the Son, We live in the Age of the Holy Spirit. Whose name must we call on to be saved in this age? We must call on the New name in this Age of the Holy Spirit because that is the name by which we can be saved in this age.
We must know the New name so that we can achieve the goal of our faith, the salvation of our Soul. How can we know the new name? We can know it only through the Bible (John 5:39). Let us carefully study the prophecies of the Bible to learn about the Savior in the Age of the Holy Spirit, who is Christ with the new name, so that we may call on Jesus’ new name and be saved.
