Shining the Light of Love in Nairobi: The 9,153rd Worldwide Environmental Cleanup Campaign
January 18, 2026
“A Global Step Toward a Sustainable Future: 400kg of Waste Collected on Thiong’o Road, Kenya”
On January 18, 2026, the 9,153rd Worldwide Environmental Cleanup Campaign was held with great enthusiasm in the Kangemi area of Nairobi, Kenya. This event was a testament to the fact that environmental protection knows no borders, as local members joined hands with university student volunteers from South Korea to restore the beauty of God’s creation.
■ A Beautiful Harmony of Global and Local Volunteers
The cleanup focused on Thiong’o Road, a busy thoroughfare in Kangemi that required urgent attention. The volunteer force was a vibrant mix of 79 local church members and 4 dedicated members of ASEZ (the World Mission Society Church of God University Student Volunteer Group) who traveled all the way from South Korea to share the heart of Mother with the Kenyan community.
Despite the physical distance between their homelands, the volunteers worked as one, picking up litter and clearing debris under the warm Nairobi sun. Their bright smiles and diligent efforts caught the attention of many local residents, spreading a message of hope and civic responsibility.

■ Strengthening Ties with Local Authorities
This campaign was made even more meaningful through the active participation of the Mountain View Ward Office. Recognizing the church’s consistent commitment to social welfare, the Ward Office sent 10 staff members to work side-by-side with the volunteers.
Vera, the Assistant Ward Administrator, participated in the cleanup from start to finish. Impressed by the organization and passion of the ASEZ members and local volunteers, she stated:
“I am deeply grateful to the World Mission Society Church of God for choosing our neighborhood for this initiative. Your efforts have made a visible difference, and we look forward to even more collaboration in the future to improve our community together.”
■ Tangible Results: 400kg of Hope
By the end of the day, the results were staggering. The 93 participants collected a total of 80 bags (50-liter capacity each), amounting to approximately 400kg of waste. What was once a littered roadside was transformed into a clean, healthy environment for the residents of Kangemi.

■ Our Commitment to the Global Village
The 9,153rd cleanup is not just a one-time event but part of a continuous global movement. By cleaning our local neighborhoods, we are protecting the entire Earth—our common home.
ASEZ and the World Mission Society Church of God remain committed to fulfilling the role of “salt and light” in the world. We will continue to carry out the movement to save the Earth with the heart of a Mother, ensuring a bright and clean future for the generations to come.
“We love you!”
