What is clean-up campaign?

It is an organized program to clean up a place, this can typically be organized at a local or regional level and cleanliness from the word clean refers to the state of being clean that is, it is something, which must not be forced but encouraged. Cleanliness is a good habit, which can enhance the quality of one’s neighborhood or environment and one’s life.

Encouraging community cleanliness has to be a habit amongst community members for example training children on the importance of a clean environment from an early age. This will equip them with the notion that the awareness of cleanliness is not a tough task to complete, rather it is quite easy. One should never make the mistake of compromising with cleanliness within one’s society. It is essential for the health and well-being of humans and animals.

ASEZ, which stands for “Save the Earth from A to Z,” emphasizes the importance of preserving a habitable environment and recognizes that cleanliness is a biblical value. Members of ASEZ, a volunteer group affiliated with the World Mission Society Church of God, recently organized a clean-up drive in the Ngara area, a community located in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. The church itself is located near Kenyatta University School of Law in Ngara.

Sharing the love of heavenly Father and Mother, student members from far off country that is South Korea who had come for short term missionary work by the name International University Bible Academy (IUBA) also joined hands in the clean-up drive.

Why is it important to save the Earth?

The Earth and the resources of earth make life possible on it. This is the will of Elohim God the creator. If we were to imagine our lives without these resources, that would not be possible, as life cannot function without sunshine, air, vegetation, and water. However, this is soon going to be our reality if we do not save the earth now.

The natural resources that the Earth offers us are finite. They are blessings from our Heavenly Father and Mother the creators, which we do not count. Human has become selfish and is utilizing the earth’s resources at a rapid rate. We need to protect them in order to protect our lives on the earth. This is because human beings and all other living organisms rely on the Earth for their survival.

Activities of humans have caused immense damage to the earth and degraded it beyond repair. Almost all the natural resources are now polluted due to these activities. When all these resources will be under threat, naturally lives of all living organisms will be under peril. This is why we need to save the earth at all costs both spiritually and physically.

Elohim God, our Heavenly Father and Mother, created the earth as the only planet capable of sustaining life. There is no “Planet B” that we can move to except for our spiritual home in heaven that Heavenly Father and Mother have prepared for us. This emphasizes the urgency of saving the earth and preserving our lives. As inhabitants of this planet, we must unite and work towards a common cause. One effective way to achieve this is by organizing clean-up campaigns.

That is why ASEZ in collaboration with the municipality ward of Ngara region, which is in charge of managing waste in the area. Such partnerships help to promote policies set by the UN environment on global environment agenda promoting coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system. In addition, clean-up campaign significantly contributes towards the delivery of local authority’s environmental sustainability commitment. Hence, the local authorities within Ngara area provided us with much support through their ward administrator.

Importance of clean-up campaigns and cleanliness

Similar to the basic essentials of life like food, water, shelter, cleanliness also holds great significance in life. It is, in fact, one of the most important things for healthy physical life. The first and foremost significance of clean-up campaign is that it means the absence of disease. Cleanliness helps us stay refreshed and hygienic on a personal level. Further, it lessens the chances of any viruses or bacteria to harm us. When we stay clean and keep the environment clean, you are less likely to fall ill. You can enjoy good health and lead an active lifestyle. It will keep you physically fit and enhance your lifespan.

Similarly, cleanliness in our surroundings will mean enhanced beauty and healthiness. It will not only beautify the area but also make it more attractive. This can be helpful in attracting more visitors and tourists, which can help boost the economy of Nairobi city. It will also earn a good name for the city in the eyes of foreign tourists. In short, clean environment is vital for one’s health and spiritual development. Heavenly Mother teaches us that giving love is more blessed than receiving love. That is why the organizing groups participated in the clean-up drive united with love to receive blessings from God and spread love, which is a great command from God. In addition to this, clean environment is also essential for the environmental development of our country.

Ways to maintain cleanliness after clean-up campaign

As we all know, it is not tough to maintain clean environment in an urban area where garbage waste is disposed all the time. It is very important to maintain cleanliness for a healthy environmental life. In terms of our surroundings, we must dispose off our garbage waste properly. We need not to litter the roads of our city to keep them clean. For instance, when you finish a packet of chips, do not throw it out of the car window. Keep it with you and throw it in the dustbin. Furthermore, we need to avoid using plastic bags but encourage reusable materials.

We can learn from it and be a part of it. If everyone does their bit responsibly, we can make earth cleaner and greener hence creating a greater sense of unity and friendship amongst us who are living on this earth as sons and daughters of God.
